The Dr. Jump web site  is intended to give you the core information that you need to enjoy rope jumping and become more informed about this incredibly diverse activity - whether you are a novice or a seasoned champion. (Note that except for the Ropics Shows, I have no financial ties to any product or organization listed on this web site.)

bulletGo to the "Jump Rope - Exercise" page for an overview on the strengths and weakness of rope jumping as an exercise program.  Also, see how the principles of Ropics addresses the weaknesses of traditional rope jumping.  A brief introductory Ropics Video can be seen here as well.
bulletThe pages on Jump Rope Gear explain what you need to know about jump ropes, shoes, floor surfaces, music gear and more.
bulletLearn about the incredible variety and number of skills possible with this "simple" apparatus in the "Jump Rope Skills" pages.
bulletBegin at the Jump Rope - Sport page if you would like to learn more about this international sport.  You can also check out some jump rope sport organizations at the Rope Links page.  (Photo at left courtesy of Hot Dog USA)
bulletIf you want to be competitive in jump rope sport it's more than a little helpful to know the Jump Rope Design principles that affect jump rope performance.  Pick the right rope for your style and event!

bulletI think that I can convince you that there is an artistic side to  jump rope as Deb demonstrates to the left.

bulletYou can also take a look at what the Ropics Show is about, which includes jump rope routines with dance and martial arts elements along with amazing special effects like the "fire rope." I've included a couple of short videos from our shows as well.

Even if you are primarily interested in one aspect of jump rope, browsing the other sections will help you to discover the depth and breadth of jump rope!

Personal Note: "From the winter of 1978-79 through the present, I have gotten more from jump rope than I would have ever dreamed possible (See Resume).   Although I'm still happy to do demonstrations, shows and might even compete again, my primary ongoing contribution to the activity will be this web site where I can share my thoughts and discoveries about this wonderfully diverse activity.  I hope that you will pick up something here that will give you some of the enjoyment, benefits, and even thrills that jump rope gave me.

Happy Jumpin'!"
